Aberlour Antique – Very Fine Aged

£130.00

A rare and discontinued travel retail release from the early 2000s, the Aberlour Antique drew on malts aged between 10 and 25 years — making it a spiritual predecessor to the now-celebrated A’bunadh. Rich oloroso sherry, dark chocolate, raisins and treacle on the nose and palate, with a warming, satisfying finish. Increasingly scarce, actively collected, and available here at a price well below the market.

Description

Before Aberlour A’bunadh became one of the most celebrated cask strength expressions in Speyside, there was the Antique.

A predecessor in spirit — rich, sherried and deeply characterful — and today one of the most quietly collectable bottles the distillery ever produced.

A travel retail release launched at the turn of the millennium, the Aberlour Antique drew on malts aged between 10 and 25 years old — a vatting that brought remarkable depth and complexity to a bottle that was, at the time, largely discovered by those fortunate enough to stumble across it in airport duty free.

Today it is a very different story. Available at only a few outlets in America and Europe , bottles from this era are becoming increasingly scarce and are actively sought by collectors who recognise what they represent.

On the nose, oloroso sherry and raisins lead, with rich treacle aromas developing behind. On the palate, dark chocolate, raisins and sherry take centre stage, with herbal notes weaving through in the background and a medium length finish that is warming, rich and deeply satisfying. Think of it as a window into a style of Aberlour that no longer exists — and may never return.

With original box and in excellent condition, this is a bottle for the collector who values provenance, heritage and the quiet satisfaction of owning something genuinely hard to find.
