Every bottle we sell is a genuine piece of whisky history, often sealed decades ago. Age leaves its mark — and we believe in telling you exactly what to expect, rather than pretending otherwise.
Why vintage bottles look different
Over the years, a bottle will naturally show signs of its age. These are the things you may see:
- Labels may show fading, light staining, creasing or scuffs, particularly where a box or carton has rubbed against them over the years
- Capsules and foil may be worn, nicked, discoloured or slightly loose
- Boxes, cartons and tubes often carry shelf wear, corner bumps or faded print
- Fill levels (ullage) vary naturally with age and evaporation; where visible, we will tell you what we can see
- Glass may show light marks or age-related haze
None of these are faults of the whisky — they are the honest marks of a bottle’s age. Anything notable is described on each product page, and we would always rather a collector asks than be surprised.
The cork — an honest word
The cork is the one part of a vintage bottle we cannot guarantee. Corks of this age may have dried, hardened, shrunk or become fragile over the decades, and a cork’s true condition cannot be fully known while the bottle remains sealed. Accordingly:
- We cannot guarantee the condition of the cork or an uneventful opening
- Opening any bottle of significant age carries inherent risk
- We will always share what is visible from the outside — the cork top, capsule and seal — and further photographs are available on request
If keeping a bottle intact matters to you, we would encourage you to ask before buying. We would much rather answer questions than disappoint anyone afterwards.
Our photographs
The photographs on each product page are of the actual bottle you would receive, normally front and back. Colours can vary slightly with lighting, but what you see is the item itself. Additional photographs are available on request — just ask via WhatsApp or email, and we will send further pictures of any angle, label or box.
Ask before you buy
Because every vintage bottle is individual, we welcome questions before purchase. We will tell you honestly what we can see, share extra photographs, and describe any notable flaws in writing. What you read and see is what arrives.
A note on contents
These bottles are offered as collectible vintage items. While many drink beautifully, we cannot guarantee the contents of any spirit sealed decades ago. Store bottles upright, away from direct sunlight, and handle the cork with care if you choose to open one.
